Glynn County Planning Commissioners recognized for eight years of service

The Islands Planning Commission held a special called meeting on December 18, 2024, to address several key agenda items, including the deferral of a zoning application and the recognition of outgoing commissioners.

The meeting commenced with a discussion regarding the zoning application ZM-24-23. A motion was made to defer this application to a special meeting scheduled for January 8, 2025. The motion received a second and was unanimously approved by the commission.

Following the procedural matters, the meeting transitioned to a more celebratory tone as the commission recognized the service of two planning commissioners, Rooks and Duncan, who concluded their eight-year terms. Staff member Stephanie expressed gratitude for their contributions, highlighting their fearless advocacy for community interests and their commitment to the commission's work since 2017. Chair Rossari also acknowledged their service, presenting them with tokens of appreciation for their dedication.

Commissioner Duncan reflected on the changes in public participation over the years, noting a shift from crowded meetings to more manageable attendance, while expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside various chairpersons. Both outgoing commissioners shared their positive experiences and the relationships they built during their tenure.
