City Councilwoman Bell celebrates completion of Santa Fe Circle project before departure

City Council members in Needles celebrated recent improvements to local infrastructure while addressing community concerns during their meeting on March 28, 2023.

Councilwoman Bell, who is leaving her position for new opportunities, received praise for her efforts in enhancing the city’s off-ramps. Residents noted the aesthetic upgrades, including the installation of colored rocks, which were completed through labor-intensive work. “She is very proud of that accomplishment that would typically take a lifetime and a career to get done,” remarked a community member, highlighting the significance of the project.

However, the meeting also brought to light pressing issues regarding safety at local parks. A resident raised concerns about the skate park's bathrooms being left unlocked overnight, leading to instances of individuals using the facilities as living spaces. “My daughter informed me that she doesn’t like to use the bathroom there because somebody lives in it,” the resident shared, emphasizing the potential risks for children. The community member urged the council to consider securing the bathrooms at night to ensure safety for park-goers.

In a moment of gratitude, another resident, Terry King, expressed appreciation for the city’s support during the Willow Fire, acknowledging the community's efforts in fundraising and assistance during a challenging time.
