Lock Haven Council approves Earth Week cleanup and water tank restoration funding

Lock Haven City Council took significant steps towards community engagement and infrastructure improvement during their recent meeting on April 18, 2022. The council unanimously approved three key requests, including an initiative for an Earth Week cleanup, set to take place throughout the city.

Mayor Long announced the collaborative effort involving Downtown Lock Haven Inc., Lock Haven University, and Susquehanna Greenways, inviting residents to participate in the cleanup scheduled for April 19 and 20. Volunteers will gather at 10 AM at the Downtown Lock Haven office to clean parks, Main Street, and the levee. The mayor encouraged community involvement, stating, “If anyone would like to participate on any of those days, they can contact me or Kiara Zanilia.”

In addition to the cleanup, the council addressed logistical matters regarding two upcoming weddings at Bridal Park, ensuring that necessary waivers and deposits would be managed appropriately.

The meeting also included a financial resolution concerning the restoration of the Cummings Village water tank. The council approved a request for an estimated $92,000 reimbursement from the Lock Haven City Authority to cover maintenance and repair costs, reflecting the city’s commitment to maintaining essential infrastructure.

With all motions passing unanimously, the council demonstrated a proactive approach to both community service and city maintenance, setting a positive tone for future initiatives.
