The Lock Haven City Council convened on April 20, 2021, to discuss significant community initiatives, including the adoption of the 2021 Comprehensive Plan titled "Destination Lock Haven." This plan aims to outline the city's vision and priorities for the next decade, focusing on community engagement and development strategies.
City Planner Abby Roberts presented the comprehensive plan, highlighting extensive public involvement over the past year and a half. The planning process included five public meetings, four focus group sessions, and various online interactions, ensuring that community feedback shaped the final document. The plan features 18 priority goals and 60 action strategies designed to enhance Lock Haven's appeal as a destination rather than merely a transit point.
Council members expressed their appreciation for Roberts' efforts and the collaborative nature of the planning process, which adapted creatively to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The council emphasized the importance of aligning future city council agenda items with the goals outlined in the comprehensive plan, reinforcing the commitment to community-driven development.
In addition to the comprehensive plan, the council acknowledged correspondence from the Clinton County Historical Society, thanking the city for its support of their initiatives. The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote in favor of adopting the comprehensive plan, marking a significant step forward for Lock Haven's future development.
