Assumption FFA celebrates student achievements and funding needs at AgCenter meeting

The Assumption Parish Police Jury meeting on November 26, 2024, covered several key topics, including updates on local projects and a discussion about the upcoming FFA Rodeo.

During the meeting, there was an update from Infiniti Engineering regarding sewer plan improvements, although no new information was provided about the courthouse or the Call Landing project. The jury also approved a motion related to these updates, which passed unanimously.

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussing the usage of the arena at the AgCenter for the 2025 FFA Rodeo. Miss Phelps, representing Assumption High School's FFA program, expressed gratitude for the previously approved reduction in rental rates for the arena. She highlighted the various activities and achievements of FFA members throughout the year, including participation in leadership camps and competitions. Notably, students from Assumption High School earned recognition at both state and national levels, with two students receiving the prestigious American FFA degree.

Miss Phelps emphasized that the rodeo serves as a crucial fundraising event to support these educational activities, allowing students to participate without incurring significant costs. The meeting underscored the importance of community support for local educational programs and the achievements of Assumption Parish students in agricultural education.
