Peninsula Library announces Comic Art Fest and series of community events

The Daly City Library Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on April 16, 2024, focusing on upcoming community events and planning for future initiatives. The meeting began with announcements about various programs designed to engage the community and promote library services.

One highlight was the Peninsula Library's Comic Art Fest, scheduled for April 25 from 5 to 6 PM, featuring a cartooning workshop in collaboration with the Cartoon Art Museum. Additionally, author Rosalice Peel will host a virtual book discussion on her work, "Mike and Me: A Couple's Guide to Managing Alzheimer's at Home," on May 2 from 11 AM to noon, with an in-person option available at the Bayshore.

The board also discussed a partnership with Phase 2 Careers to provide a career development program for older adults, set for May 21 at 1 PM. Other community events mentioned included a health and wellness fair on May 8, the Shine Family Day on May 18, and the second annual Children's Day celebration on June 8, both at Gellert Park. The board noted the importance of participating in these events to foster community connections.

In terms of future planning, the board addressed the need for a reorganization meeting in July, marking the one-year anniversary of the current board's formation. Suggestions for the next agenda included updates on new library initiatives and a potential needs assessment to better understand community desires regarding library services.
