Clear Lake City Council approves $100K for short-term housing for fire victims

Councilwoman Overton raised concerns about the environmental safety of the properties where individuals are currently staying, noting the presence of hazardous materials like asbestos in the burn areas. The council ultimately voted to approve the resolution to contract with North Coast Opportunities (NCO) to facilitate cash assistance for fire victims. This partnership is expected to enhance the city’s capacity to provide necessary support to those affected by the fires.
