Clear Lake Council honors departing members with awards and community acknowledgments

The City Council of Clearlake held a regular meeting on December 5, 2024, where members reflected on their service and contributions to the community as several council members prepare to depart. The meeting featured heartfelt tributes to outgoing members, highlighting their leadership and dedication over the years.

Council Member Kramer expressed gratitude towards her colleagues, particularly acknowledging Vice Mayor Overton for her mentorship and support during her initial campaign. Kramer praised Overton's leadership style and innovative ideas, stating, "You've done a fantastic job... I appreciate the effort that you put into it." She also shared her personal journey of becoming a council member, crediting Overton for encouraging her to run.

Vice Mayor Overton, who has served for 20 years, offered advice to the incoming council members, emphasizing the importance of maintaining personal relationships despite political disagreements. She encouraged them to keep politics separate from personal interactions, stating, "If you argue with somebody on this dais, it doesn't mean that they hate you."
