Camas mayor promotes Civic Square project for community events and food trucks

Summit County officials are considering a new community project aimed at enhancing local gatherings and events. During a recent County Council meeting, discussions centered around the development of a concrete slab in Camas, which would serve as a versatile space for food trucks and community events, dubbed the Kamath Civic Square.

The proposal, initiated by the Camas mayor, emphasizes the importance of creating a dedicated area for community activities that could complement existing facilities like playgrounds. This space is envisioned as a hub for various events, potentially benefiting both the city and the county. The county has previously utilized its facilities for community programs, such as the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, indicating a strong precedent for community engagement.

County officials noted that although the project is feasible, it would likely not commence until August or later due to scheduling constraints.
