North Bay Animal Services showcases Emily as January adoptable dog of the month

The City Council of Clearlake convened on January 18, 2024, to discuss various community matters, including a presentation on adoptable dogs from the local animal shelter. The meeting began with a heartfelt introduction of Emily, the adoptable dog of the month. Emily, a one-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed, was described as affectionate and playful, enjoying snuggles and long walks. The shelter emphasized that Emily is not microchipped, is heartworm negative, and is up to date on vaccinations.

Following the presentation, the council received an update on the shelter's operations. Over the past month, 25 dogs entered the shelter, with 11 finding new homes or being returned to their owners. Unfortunately, one dog was euthanized as part of these statistics. Currently, the shelter houses 52 dogs, including five puppies and their mother.

Additionally, the council highlighted a vaccination clinic held on January 10, which served 37 dogs. A free microchip clinic is scheduled for January 24, from 2 PM to 4 PM, at the shelter, encouraging pet owners to take advantage of this service.

The meeting concluded with an invitation for questions, reflecting the council's commitment to community engagement and animal welfare. Overall, the session underscored the importance of pet adoption and responsible pet ownership within the Clearlake community.
