Town upgrades Veterans Park with new pavement and improved drainage solutions

During the December 14, 2021, Board of Commissioners meeting in Rising Sun, MD, significant discussions centered around community safety and infrastructure improvements, particularly at Veterans Park.

Commissioner Pearson emphasized the importance of safety during the holiday season, urging residents to properly care for live Christmas trees to prevent fire hazards. He noted that this time of year sees an increase in emergency calls for firefighters, highlighting the need for vigilance.

In response to recent inquiries on social media regarding police coverage, Pearson clarified that Rising Sun has reciprocal agreements with neighboring towns and county authorities. He explained that due to manpower shortages, officers may respond to incidents outside Rising Sun, fulfilling their obligations under these agreements.

Commissioner Warnec reported on recent upgrades at Veterans Park, thanking public works staff for their efforts in repaving the parking lot and addressing drainage issues. The new pavement is expected to improve conditions for visitors, especially during rainy weather, by preventing the tracking of asphalt millings into vehicles. Warnec also mentioned ongoing work to enhance sidewalks and crosswalks in the park, which will benefit community activities such as Little League.
