Middletown Township approves ADA ramp project and motorcycle purchases for police

Middletown Township is set to enhance accessibility and public safety following key decisions made during the Board of Supervisors meeting on June 13, 2022. The board unanimously approved the authorization to bid for the 2022 ADA Accessible Ramp Project, which aims to construct curb ramps in the Cobalt Ridge and Quincy Hollow neighborhoods. This initiative is part of the township's ongoing commitment to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and improve access to public facilities.

The project, budgeted at $400,000, will utilize a $150,000 Community Development Block Grant awarded by Bucks County, requiring no local match. The ramps will be strategically placed near Walter Miller Elementary School and Cobalt Ridge Park, which is set to feature a new ADA-accessible playground. This development is expected to significantly improve accessibility for residents and visitors alike.

In addition to the accessibility project, the board also approved the purchase of two new motorcycles for the police department, totaling $40,810.72. These motorcycles will replace older models that have reached high mileage since the motor unit's inception in 2016. The police department highlighted the success of the motor unit in handling daily patrols, traffic enforcement, and community events, emphasizing the importance of maintaining an effective fleet for public safety.

Furthermore, the meeting included a presentation on the township's MS4 program, which focuses on managing stormwater and reducing pollutants in local waterways. The program is currently in a public feedback phase, allowing residents to contribute their thoughts before finalizing the plan with the Department of Environmental Protection.
