Middletown Township honors scholarship winners and bids farewell to Tom Scott

The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors held a meeting on June 13, 2022, where several key topics were discussed, including upcoming events, scholarship presentations, and a retirement recognition.

The meeting began with roll call and announcements. The next Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for July 18, 2022, at the Middletown Senior Center due to renovations at the public hall. Additionally, the annual Fourth of July parade will take place on July 4 at 9 AM, encouraging community participation.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the scholarship presentations from the Middletown Community Foundation. Jim Merrill, president of the foundation, announced that over the past 22 years, the foundation has awarded approximately 75 scholarships totaling over $200,000 to residents of Middletown Township. This year, four winners were recognized: Christina Winkler, Hannah Murray, Olivia Jacobson, and Aaron Lewis, all of whom are graduates of Neshaminy High School and will pursue various degrees at notable universities.

The meeting also included a heartfelt retirement recognition for Tom Scott from the Department of Public Works, who has dedicated 42 years of service to the township. Colleagues praised his commitment and contributions, highlighting his reliability and the positive impact he has had on the community. Citations were presented to him from various representatives, including a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor.

The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude for Tom Scott's service and a brief break for attendees to share their well-wishes before adjourning. The Board of Supervisors emphasized the importance of community engagement and support for local initiatives.
