Middletown Township's Board of Supervisors made significant strides during their December 6 meeting, approving a new collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 107 and adopting a balanced budget for 2022, both without raising taxes.
The board unanimously approved the three-year collective bargaining agreement, which will run from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024. Key highlights of the agreement include a realigned pay scale, 3.5% salary increases for the last two years of the contract, and the addition of Juneteenth as a recognized holiday. Township management expressed satisfaction with the negotiations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining positive relationships with their collective bargaining agents.
Following this, the board turned its attention to the 2022 budget, which totals $39 million and also maintains the township's commitment to no tax increases for residents. This marks the sixth consecutive year the township has achieved a balanced budget without raising taxes, a point of pride for board members who noted the importance of fiscal responsibility in their governance.
With both the collective bargaining agreement and the budget receiving unanimous support, the meeting underscored the township's commitment to its employees and residents alike, setting a positive tone for the upcoming year.
