East Main Street to host child abuse awareness and annual community events

In the heart of Lock Haven, city council members gathered to discuss community initiatives that promise to bring residents together and raise awareness for important causes. Among the highlights of the meeting was a proposal for a new event, "Truck or Pinwheels in the Park," aimed at promoting child abuse awareness. Brandy Boddle, the event organizer, was unable to attend but had reached out to the council with plans inspired by a similar event held in Williamsport.

The event is tentatively scheduled for April 15, with a rain date of April 22, and will take place in Triangle Park. Boddle requested permission to hang a banner throughout April to promote the initiative, which aims to engage the community in a meaningful conversation about child abuse awareness. The council expressed strong support for the event, recognizing the importance of raising public awareness on such a critical issue.

In addition to this new initiative, the council also reviewed plans for the annual "Best of Glen County" community event, set for June 17. This event will require the closure of Main Street from J.G. Mill to North Henderson, as well as the use of Triangle Park and the East Main Street parking lot. The parade associated with the event will follow a designated route, ensuring a festive atmosphere for all attendees.

With all necessary paperwork and insurance requirements met, the council moved to approve both requests, emphasizing the significance of community engagement and awareness. As discussions wrapped up, the council members reflected on the importance of these events in fostering a sense of unity and support within Lock Haven.
