Mayor McCormick outlines Colville's Fender Fest and park celebration plans

Summit County's public works department is tackling a series of challenges as they prepare for the summer season, including leaks in newly installed secondary water meters. During a recent Council of Governments meeting, officials reported that despite some setbacks, overall progress is being made.

The department is currently addressing multiple leaks in the new meters, which have been causing headaches for public works staff. "Pressure's up enough that all of our brand new meters for secondary water... are all leaking everywhere," one official noted, highlighting the urgency of the situation as crews work diligently to fix the issues.

In addition to water system repairs, the community is gearing up for the annual Fender Fest, a popular car show set to take place in Colville. The event promises to bring excitement to the area, with plans to enhance the main street for festivities. Mayor McCormick also shared details about a celebration scheduled for July 20, which will feature a breakfast, car show, auction, and culminate in fireworks on July 27.

Furthermore, the city is making strides in improving public spaces, with plans to complete a park area between the city building and library, thanks to support from Summit County. This development is expected to enhance community engagement and provide a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
