Cub Scout Troop 19 leads pledge at Middletown Township supervisors meeting

Middletown Township's Board of Supervisors meeting on February 22, 2022, began with a heartfelt tribute to the late Detective David Struthers, who passed away on February 11 after a courageous battle with cancer. The meeting opened with Cub Scout Troop 19 leading the Pledge of Allegiance, highlighting the community's involvement in local governance and education.

Detective Struthers, a dedicated member of the Middletown Township Police Department for over 22 years, was remembered for his service and commitment to the community. Chief Bartirilla spoke fondly of Struthers, detailing his military service and distinguished career in law enforcement, which included roles as a motor unit officer and narcotics investigator. The Chief emphasized the profound impact Struthers had on his colleagues and the community, noting the support he received from his family and friends during his illness.

The Board observed a moment of silence in honor of Struthers, reflecting the community's collective grief and respect for his legacy. Supervisor Anna Payne, who has been participating in meetings virtually due to her own health challenges, was acknowledged for her support of Struthers and his family during his battle with cancer.

In addition to the tribute, the meeting included standard procedural items, with all supervisors present, except for Supervisor Payne, who joined remotely. The next Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for March 7, 2022, at 7 PM, where community members are encouraged to participate and stay informed about local governance.
