City plans final Food Truck Friday event before summer movie series begins

The City of Riverbank's Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee is celebrating the success of its "Food Truck Fridays," which wrapped up its May run with a strong turnout and positive community feedback. The event, held at the sports complex on Morrill Road, featured up to 20 food vendors each week and attracted visitors from across Stanislaus County. Committee members noted that the event has fostered a sense of community and safety, with many attendees expressing their desire for its return.

Despite the enthusiasm, the committee has decided not to extend the event beyond May to maintain its novelty, similar to the approach taken with farmers markets. "We want to keep the excitement going," said a committee member, emphasizing the importance of anticipation for future events.

Looking ahead, the committee is set to launch "Movies in the Park" starting in June, aiming to host one event per month throughout the summer. This year, the movies will be showcased at various parks across the city, including Selville Park, where the film "Soul" will kick off the series on June 22. The initiative aims to engage different neighborhoods and highlight Riverbank's parks.
