California cities set 2025 advocacy priorities to enhance local resilience and housing

The Eureka City Council has set its advocacy priorities for 2025, focusing on key issues that will shape the community's future. During the meeting on December 17, 2024, council members outlined four main areas of focus: protecting local revenues and expanding economic development tools, strengthening climate change resiliency and disaster preparedness, modernizing critical infrastructure, and securing investments to combat homelessness while increasing affordable housing supply.

Council member Bauer emphasized the importance of local engagement in these advocacy efforts, stating, "If you're not at the table, you're on the menu." This highlights the necessity for local politicians to be actively involved in state-level discussions to ensure the needs of Eureka are met.
