Underground canal work begins as senior apartment projects ramp up

Holtville is set to see significant developments in the coming weeks, as city officials announced the commencement of key infrastructure projects during the Planning Commission meeting on November 20, 2024.

Construction work is expected to begin shortly on the undergrounding of the canal, with the project slated for completion in December. Following this, repaving efforts and the installation of curbs and sidewalks will take place after the New Year, enhancing the area’s infrastructure and accessibility.

In addition to these improvements, the city will celebrate the grand opening of a newly created wetlands area, scheduled for 10 AM the day after tomorrow. This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability and provide recreational opportunities for residents.

The meeting also highlighted progress on two apartment projects aimed at addressing housing needs in Holtville. The senior apartments located at Third and Great are currently undergoing dirt work and the establishment of a ponding basin. Meanwhile, the Pine Crossing Apartments, designed as a mirror image of a previously built complex, are advancing through the planning stages.
