Kentucky Transportation announces $995K budget for rural projects in District 9

Mason County officials are gearing up for significant infrastructure improvements, with a total budget allocation of nearly $1 million for the upcoming year. During the recent Fiscal Court meeting on May 14, 2024, Travis Crawford, Kentucky's District 9 transportation supervisor, presented the county's rural secondary recommendations, highlighting a total of $995,169 available for road maintenance and improvements.

Crawford detailed the breakdown of the budget, which includes $405,000 earmarked for routine maintenance tasks such as ditching, tree trimming, and pothole repairs. Additionally, there is a $3,875 allowance for the judge's expenses, bringing the total maintenance allocation to $408,875. This leaves a substantial remainder of $586,294 for further improvements across the county.

Among the key allocations, $180,001 is designated as flex funds, allowing the judge and his team to address specific projects as they arise, including repaving and other necessary upgrades. The remaining funds will be utilized for various improvement projects, ensuring that Mason County's infrastructure remains safe and efficient for its residents.
