Stafford honors Bouchard family at Memorial Day ceremony and proclaims EMS Week

Stafford County will honor its emergency medical services (EMS) personnel during the upcoming Emergency Medical Services Week, proclaimed by the Board of Supervisors for May 19 to May 24, 2024. This recognition highlights the critical role that EMS teams play in providing life-saving care around the clock.

During the meeting on May 21, 2024, the Board presented a proclamation to Stafford's new emergency medical service director, Deputy Chief Bridal Kendrick, along with Volunteer Rescue Chief Jean Helmandaler and volunteers Michael and Alexia Hertel. The proclamation emphasizes the dedication of EMS professionals, including first responders, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and other essential personnel who undergo extensive training to enhance their life-saving skills.

The Board acknowledged the significant impact of quality emergency care on survival and recovery rates for individuals experiencing sudden illness or injury. The proclamation also recognizes the evolving role of EMS in providing out-of-hospital care, including preventative medicine and telemedicine access.

In addition to this important recognition, the meeting also included an invitation to the community for the annual Memorial Day ceremony on May 24 at 10 AM at the Stafford Armed Service Memorial, where the lives of Marvin and Mercer Bouchard, who lost their lives during World War II, will be honored.
