Chadds Ford School Board celebrates Ramadan and invites public to art show Saturday

The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District (UCFSD) held a work session on March 1, 2024, where school directors discussed various community and educational topics. The meeting began with an invitation for community comments, but no members stepped forward to speak.

Director Talbert opened the discussion by sharing her enjoyment of a recent basketball game, where the boys' team advanced in the state tournament. She also expressed appreciation for a recent retreat, highlighting a report by Dr. Reiter that resonated with her. Talbert extended well wishes to the Muslim community for the start of Ramadan and acknowledged National Sunshine Week, emphasizing the importance of transparency in government.

In addition, Talbert invited the community to attend the 75th Annual Chadds Ford Elementary School Art Show, scheduled for March 4, which will feature over 60 artists. This event marks a significant milestone for the school and aims to engage the community in celebrating local talent.

Director Hellrang addressed the academically talented program, noting that parents had shared their concerns in a recent meeting. He commended the administration for taking the time to consider these concerns and for engaging with stakeholders to ensure a thoughtful approach to any changes.

The meeting also highlighted a recent bocce tournament between Chadds Ford Elementary School and Hillandale, which was well-received by students, teachers, and parents alike. Hellrang mentioned an upcoming event at the high school, encouraging community participation.

As the meeting transitioned to routine business, it was noted that these matters would be addressed in the following week's regular board meeting.
