Meadow Elementary sixth grader Lynn Burkel creates viral Lego tribute for Teacher Appreciation Week

The Alpine School Board meeting on March 15, 2022, highlighted a heartwarming project by a local student that showcased creativity and appreciation for teachers. Lynn Burkel, a sixth-grade student at Meadow Elementary, presented an impressive Lego art piece dedicated to his teacher, Mr. Cstram, in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.

Burkel's project was entirely self-initiated. He began by selecting a photo of Mr. Cstram from his Google Classroom and transformed it into a pixel art design using an app. Over the course of four months, he meticulously ordered each individual Lego piece from the Lego website, demonstrating his dedication and effort. The project was described as a "labor of love," reflecting the positive impact Mr. Cstram has had on Burkel's educational experience.

During the meeting, attendees were treated to a short video showcasing Burkel's Lego creation, along with a presentation of photos documenting the project. The presentation was also shared on the Good News Instagram account, where it gained significant attention, amassing nearly 380,000 likes and over 2,300 comments, highlighting the community's appreciation for student creativity and teacher recognition.
