Oklahoma FFA celebrates record membership and national achievements at annual convention

The recent CareerTech State Board Meeting highlighted significant achievements in Oklahoma's Future Farmers of America (FFA) program, showcasing the state's commitment to agricultural education and student development. With a record high membership of 29,213 last year, Oklahoma's FFA ranks as the seventh largest in the nation, and per capita, it stands out as one of the top states in terms of member participation relative to population.

A key focus of the meeting was the support provided by the Oklahoma FFA Alumni, which plays a crucial role in funding events and leadership camps that engage approximately 1,600 students each summer. The FFA Foundation, boasting over $10 million in assets, collaborates with industry partners, including new title sponsor the University of Tulsa, to enhance student opportunities through scholarships and grants.

The meeting also celebrated the accomplishments of Oklahoma students at the National FFA Convention, where the state had 20 proficiency award finalists and four national winners. Notably, Stillwater FFA achieved remarkable success, with all 15 of its finalists receiving gold emblems. The chapter was recognized as a national premier chapter for its community-building efforts, while Bartlesville FFA was honored for its leadership initiatives.

Whitney Glaser, a standout student and great-niece of a board member, was recognized as one of four national star winners, a prestigious accolade in the FFA community. Additionally, Oklahoma's teams excelled in career development events, with Guthrie winning in livestock judging and Westville in poultry evaluation.

These achievements reflect the ongoing dedication to fostering leadership and agricultural skills among Oklahoma's youth, reinforcing the importance of agricultural education in the community. As the FFA prepares for its upcoming state convention in April, the focus remains on supporting students and enhancing their educational experiences.
