FCPS launches monthly Kid Champion Award to recognize outstanding staff contributions

The Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) Equity Council convened on December 3, 2024, to discuss several key initiatives aimed at recognizing staff contributions and ensuring fiscal responsibility within the district.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the introduction of the Kid Champion Award, which is awarded monthly to an FCPS employee nominated by community members or staff. This initiative, which began in October, aims to celebrate the often-overlooked contributions of various staff members who make significant impacts on students' lives. So far, two awards have been presented, with the first recipient being an instructional classroom aide and the second a registrar and attendance clerk. The program will continue through May, providing an ongoing opportunity for the community to acknowledge deserving staff.

In addition to the award program, the council reported a clean financial audit for the fifth consecutive year, with no findings noted. This achievement underscores the district's commitment to fiscal responsibility and sound financial management. The council expressed pride in the collective efforts of the teams involved in maintaining this level of accountability.
