Memorial Middle School students win essay contest on democracy's strength

During the Laredo Independent School District (LISD) Regular Board Meeting on April 18, 2024, the board celebrated the achievements of local students by recognizing the winners of an essay contest focused on the theme "What Makes a Democracy Strong." The three middle school winners, Veronica Estrada, Taylor Guzman, and Angelina Atali from Memorial Middle School, were honored for their outstanding contributions. Although the students were unable to attend the meeting due to a soccer game, their principal, Melissa Valdez, accepted the recognition on their behalf.

The meeting also featured a video presentation showcasing the students' essays, highlighting their perspectives on democracy and civic engagement.
