Montebello Winter Wonderland set for December 7 with Santa food and live entertainment

The Montebello Parks & Recreation Commission convened on November 21, 2024, to discuss upcoming community events and initiatives. The meeting highlighted the preparations for the annual Winter Wonderland event, scheduled for December 7 at Montebello City Hall from 3 PM to 9 PM. The event will feature a tree lighting ceremony at 7 PM, free pictures with Santa, food, crafts, live entertainment, and snow activities, thanks in part to a generous donation from Adventist Health White Memorial.

Commission members expressed enthusiasm for the Winter Wonderland, with Commissioner Takayama noting the importance of community engagement and the excitement surrounding the event. Vice Chair Mitchell shared insights from a recent meeting focused on inclusive activities in parks, emphasizing that Montebello is keeping pace with other cities in providing accessible programs.

Commissioner Carlin, returning after a brief absence, expressed eagerness to participate in the Winter Wonderland and encouraged residents to enjoy the holiday decorations throughout the city. Commissioner Carla echoed the positive sentiments, highlighting the success of recent events like the Heritage Festival and promoting local service group activities, including a pancake breakfast hosted by the Lions Club on the same day as the Winter Wonderland.

The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn, following a collective wish for a safe and happy Thanksgiving to the community. The commission's commitment to fostering community spirit and inclusivity remains strong as they prepare for the festive season.
