East Chicago TRIO program celebrates 60 years of empowering first-gen students through education

The Regular School Board Meeting for the School City of East Chicago on December 17, 2024, highlighted significant community initiatives and student achievements. The meeting also recognized Aileen Laforce, a senior at East Chicago Central High School, for being awarded the Lilly Scholarship. Ranked second in her class, Laforce expressed her passion for dentistry and her commitment to making a positive impact in the healthcare field.

Additionally, the School City of East Chicago's transportation department received the "Bus Fleet of the Year" award from Drive Clean, a national organization promoting sustainable transportation. This recognition reflects the district's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint through the adoption of environmentally friendly practices and technologies.
