Coach inspires team to historic county cross country victory at Markham Park

At the recent county meet, the girls' cross country team from Weston made history by clinching their first-ever county title, a feat that had been a goal since last season. Coach, who had meticulously analyzed the team's strengths and weaknesses, identified key athletes to elevate the team's performance. "I told my girls that we are winning," the coach stated, instilling confidence and a winning mindset from the very first practice.

Despite facing challenges such as inclement weather, canceled meets, and tough conversations about effort, the team persevered. "We won every single meet this season," the coach emphasized, highlighting the team's dominance leading up to the county championship.

The meet culminated in a remarkable performance, with Lucy Sennuc finishing 4th overall, followed closely by co-captain Chloe Jimenez in 5th and Stephanie Khan in 7th. Paula Myron and Emmy Hu rounded out the scoring team, finishing 12th and 14th respectively. Their combined efforts secured the championship, marking a significant milestone for the school and the team. The coach proudly left Markham Park with the first-place trophy, a testament to their hard work and determination.
