City Manager reveals ambitious plans for Fruit Heights growth

During a recent government meeting, Brandon Green, the city manager of Fruit Heights City, provided an overview of the city's current status and future plans. Established in 1939, Fruit Heights has a population of approximately 6,100 residents and around 1,800 homes. Green highlighted the city's efficient management of a modest budget, supported by a dedicated team of eight full-time and two part-time employees.

A significant development for the city is the recent funding awarded by the Waste Front Regional Council, amounting to $80,000, aimed at updating the city's general plan for the first time since 2005. This update is deemed essential due to legislative changes regarding affordable housing and the city's growth dynamics. Green expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by Megan from the council, who played a crucial role in securing the funding.

Currently, the city is in the process of conducting public hearings and notifications related to the general plan update. Green also mentioned a notable piece of land in Fruit Heights that has garnered attention from Davis County, indicating its perceived value, particularly for recreational activities such as golf. The city manager's presentation underscored the ongoing efforts to adapt to changing needs and enhance the community's infrastructure and planning.
