Fireworks banned as county enforces strict fire restrictions

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the placement of new firefighting equipment, with plans to store it at Midway Station due to space constraints at the airport. The equipment, which includes extrication tools, is expected to enhance response capabilities for highway fires, although some members expressed disappointment over the limited options for storage.

The meeting also addressed fire restrictions in Los Has County, particularly concerning the use of fireworks. Following discussions with the City Police and Chief Booth, officials decided to implement a full ban on fireworks effective June 16. This decision was influenced by concerns over enforcement challenges, as previous allowances led to confusion and safety issues in the community.

While some permits for community events have been issued, including for Memorial Hill, the county will not approve any additional private fireworks displays this year. Officials anticipate a significant increase in calls related to fire safety and are preparing to communicate these restrictions through social media and local announcements to ensure public awareness.
