Gardner City Council approves historic Palmer Fountain restoration

The Gardiner City Council convened on May 10, 2023, for a regular meeting, where several public hearings and new business items were discussed. Mayor Patricia Lehi opened the session, welcoming council members and attendees both in-person and online.

The design, created by landscape architect Tom Farmer, was presented to the council for approval. Abbe emphasized the historical importance of the fountain and its namesake, Dr. Gideon Palmer, noting that the project aims to honor his legacy through educational initiatives in local schools.

The council expressed appreciation for the committee's hard work and dedication to the project, which is expected to enhance the community's historical landscape. The meeting concluded with a commitment to move forward with the fountain's restoration, ensuring that it will serve as a lasting tribute to Dr. Palmer and a point of pride for Gardiner residents.
