Music Teacher Transforms Lives Through Passion and Dedication

In a heartfelt recognition ceremony, Eichel Englam, a dedicated music teacher in the Wiseburn School District, was honored for her exceptional contributions to music education. Since joining the district in 2019, Englam has inspired lower grade students with her passion for music, fostering an inclusive and engaging environment.

Prior to her tenure at Wiseburn, Englam spent two years at La Unified as an elementary vocal music teacher and worked as a teaching artist, mentor, and coach for PS Arts in the Lawndale School District. Her qualifications include ORF and music rhapsody certifications, which enhance her teaching methods.

Colleagues praised Englam for her unwavering commitment and ability to connect with students of all backgrounds and abilities. Fellow teacher Shannon Kuhn highlighted her friendly and thoughtful approach, ensuring all students can participate in performances. Dee Dee Zerbal, another teacher, commended Englam for her innovative teaching strategies, which incorporate dance, instruments, and cultural traditions.

Englam's adaptability was particularly noted during the COVID-19 pandemic, as she created auxiliary videos and music mixes to extend lessons beyond the classroom. Her efforts allowed families to engage in music together, fostering a sense of community.
