In a recent meeting of the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners, the contributions of local schools to the Replenish program were celebrated, highlighting the significant impact of community involvement in addressing food insecurity. A total of 103 schools participated in food drives this year, collectively donating over 77,000 pounds of food to families in need.
The event recognized the top 12 schools that excelled in their contributions, with Old Bridge High School's ROTC program leading the way by collecting an impressive 6,450 pounds of food. Other notable contributors included Cambridge Elementary School with 3,600 pounds, Maubee Street School with 2,750 pounds, and South Brunswick High School with 2,350 pounds. The efforts of these schools underscore the dedication of students, staff, and families in combating hunger within the community.
Commissioners expressed heartfelt gratitude for the hard work and enthusiasm shown by the students and their families, emphasizing the importance of teaching young people the value of community service.
