City of Socorro faces major transit service cuts

In a recent government meeting, significant discussions centered around the impending termination of the Sun Metro route serving Socorro, set to conclude at the end of the calendar year. The Local Government Corporation (LGC) is currently evaluating its operational routes in the area, with recommendations from the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) expected to guide potential changes. These adjustments could range from altering service frequency to completely removing stops in Socorro.

City representative Rudy Cruz expressed his disappointment over the decision to opt out of the LGC, emphasizing the need for collaboration and open communication between the city and the LGC. Cruz highlighted the importance of keeping avenues open for future participation, despite the current withdrawal.
