Village faces water rate hike amid infrastructure upgrades

During a recent village meeting, officials announced an impending increase in water rates due to a notification from the village of Macauk. The new rate will see a 3.3% hike, translating to an increase of approximately 19 cents per unit, which is defined as 1,000 gallons of water. This adjustment will raise the cost from 19.44 cents to 20.77 cents per unit, incorporating the pass-through rate increase from Macauk.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the sewer rate, which will also reflect the same 3.3% increase from Macauk. This adjustment is part of a broader strategy that includes planned capital projects and scheduled replacements of lead service lines within the village. The officials emphasized the necessity of these increases to maintain infrastructure and ensure the safety and quality of water services for residents.
