The Ontario City Council convened on Tuesday evening, beginning with a Pledge of Allegiance led by Pastor Victor Enoch of Victory Outreach Ontario. Following the pledge, a prayer was offered, invoking guidance and wisdom for the council and city officials.
City Attorney provided a brief report on a closed session, stating that while discussions took place, there were no reportable actions resulting from the meeting.
Public comments commenced with Rich Gentry, owner of Share My Coach RV Rental Company and Mountain View RV and Boat Storage. Gentry addressed ongoing issues regarding his RV storage facility located at 1031 Baker Street. He recounted a series of communications with city officials concerning a three-day notice to vacate the property, which he received in March. Gentry expressed his willingness to cooperate with the city and requested clarity on the situation, particularly regarding the potential eviction of approximately 600 tenants currently utilizing his storage units. He highlighted the limited availability of alternative storage options in the area, noting only 107 RV spaces available within a 25-mile radius.
Gentry concluded his remarks by seeking open communication with city officials to facilitate a resolution that would allow his tenants adequate time to find alternative storage solutions if necessary. The council was urged to engage with him directly to address the matter.
The meeting continued with additional public comments, indicating a proactive approach from community members to engage with local governance on pressing issues.
