Families Demand Urgent Action After Series of Dangerous Crashes

Abir Haider, a local resident, recounted a harrowing incident on May 25, when a drunk driver crashed into her husband’s parked car, narrowly missing her daughter’s bedroom. This incident was not isolated; Haider highlighted that similar accidents have plagued the area for over 17 years, prompting fears for the safety of her three children.

Haider's daughter, Nora, corroborated her mother’s account, detailing a history of crashes that have damaged their home and endangered lives. She presented evidence of past incidents, including a severe crash in 2020 that led first responders to believe the house had exploded. Despite previous attempts to address the issue, including a rejected fence permit aimed at protecting the property, the family feels that inadequate measures have been taken to ensure their safety.

The Haider family, along with supportive neighbors, is now calling on the city council to take immediate action to prevent further accidents.
