Community celebrates new high school as symbol of hope

In a heartfelt ribbon-cutting ceremony, community leaders and construction officials celebrated the completion of the new Noonan High School, a project born from the devastation of a tornado that struck the area. Charlie Griffiths, president of the parish construction group, emphasized the importance of hope, strategy, and hard work in rebuilding the school, drawing inspiration from Admiral William McRaven's insights on the power of hope.

Griffiths highlighted the collaborative efforts of school leadership, the board of education, and the construction team, crediting them for their strategic planning and execution that ensured the project’s success. He acknowledged the dedication of the construction team, particularly Superintendent Mike Harnage, who relocated to Newnan for two and a half years to oversee the project.

The new facility, which reflects both the community's history and modern educational needs, was funded through a combination of resources, including $18 million from the governor's budget. Griffiths noted that while the tornado was a tragic event, it ultimately showcased the resilience of the community, encapsulated in the spirit of \"Noonan Strong.\"
