County faces potential financial fallout over incomplete housing projects

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed the need for a special session to address several projects related to the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). It was revealed that while the program was reported as complete, several housing projects remain unfinished, potentially leaving the county liable for $134,000 in unspent funds.

Officials expressed concern over the expired agreements between SCOED and contractors, which complicates the completion of these projects. A proposal was made to directly communicate with the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) to clarify the county's position and explore options for reopening the program. The aim is to ensure that homeowners and contractors fulfill their obligations while protecting the county from financial repercussions.
