Community volunteers save school district thousands this summer

During a recent government meeting, the superintendent highlighted the success of a volunteer summer technology program aimed at preparing Chromebooks for the upcoming school year. Steisen praised Angel Austria, a key organizer of the initiative, for his exceptional management skills in coordinating volunteers. Austria's efforts included scheduling shifts and maintaining communication with the team, which significantly contributed to the program's efficiency. The initiative has reportedly saved the district approximately $22,000 in potential overtime costs, showcasing the financial benefits of community involvement.

The program has seen participation from various stakeholders, including board members, teachers, and students, all of whom contributed to the unboxing and preparation of new Chromebooks. Steisen expressed gratitude for the volunteers' commitment, noting that one student has consistently attended the sessions, demonstrating a strong sense of community spirit.
