Greensboro Science Center plans stunning new biodome exhibit

The Greensboro Science Center is set to embark on an ambitious project to create a biodome, envisioned as an indoor tropical oasis that will feature a variety of exhibits showcasing different species. This new addition aims to be the center's most impressive build to date, with plans for approximately six to seven distinct exhibits, including free-flying birds and potentially bats.

A highlight of the biodome will be Indy, a two-toed sloth who has recently joined the center. Born at the Brevard Zoo, Indy is just over two years old and is currently acclimating to her environment in the aquarium space. The science center has been on a waitlist for a sloth for three years, and her arrival marks a significant milestone for the facility. Indy is expected to play a key role in future sloth encounter programs once the biodome is completed.

The construction of the biodome will involve the demolition of existing structures, including the Discovery House, and is anticipated to begin early next year. The entire project is projected to take about two years to complete. Visitors to the science center can currently see Indy and other animals in the existing exhibits, with updates on the biodome's progress available through the center's website.
