Emergency response teams mobilize to tackle storm damage

In a recent government meeting, officials discussed ongoing efforts to address damage caused by severe weather in Cottage Grove and surrounding areas. The meeting highlighted the urgency of evaluating leaning trees and hazardous branches that pose risks to public safety. Commissioner Carla Bigham from Washington County expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts between the county and Cottage Grove, emphasizing the importance of community partnerships during challenging times. She announced that the county is deploying significant resources, including three skid loaders, a front-end loader, and approximately nine tandem trucks, to assist with recovery efforts.

Bigham noted that Cottage Grove was not the only community affected by the recent weather events, with extensive damage reported throughout the county. County staff are currently assessing the situation to determine the need for an emergency declaration.
