In a recent government meeting, officials outlined the exciting details for an upcoming fishing derby and community celebration, set to kick off at 5:30 AM. The event will feature a tagging system for fish, aimed at preventing cheating, with prizes awarded for tagged fish based on their color. Untagged fish will still be eligible for the biggest fish competition, which will recognize the top three catches, along with a special prize for the rare albino catfish, which has not been caught in four years.
The day will also include activities for children, who will receive prizes for their catches. A final weigh-in is scheduled for 10:30 AM, followed by a raffle at 11 AM. Additional festivities will run throughout the day, including miniature golf, snow cones, paddle boat rides, and concessions at the newly opened train building.
A highlight of the event will be a flyover by four aircraft from Vance Air Force Base, scheduled for 8 PM, followed by a symphony performance and a fireworks display at dusk. Officials expressed gratitude for the community support and the participation of local organizations, including the Kiwanis Club, which will provide rides on the Ferris wheel and carousel.
The meeting concluded with a call for questions, emphasizing the collaborative effort to celebrate the community and its traditions.
