City board approves controversial circus mural project

During a recent government meeting, the board discussed an application for a circus mural to be placed on a city wall located at approximately 780 South Tamiami Trail. The meeting began with no public comments, allowing the board to proceed directly to the motion regarding the mural.

The chair announced that the staff's intention was to recommend either approval or denial of the application to the city council. Board member Efron moved to recommend approval of the mural, which was seconded by Steve Carr. Following the motion, the board opened the floor for discussion, but no further comments were made.

The roll call vote revealed a split decision, with the motion passing 5-1. However, it was later clarified that the vote was not unanimous, prompting a correction from the chair regarding the voting outcome. The board expressed gratitude for the presentation and concluded the discussion on the mural application.
