Power Restored to 99 Percent After Hurricane Outages

In a recent government meeting, officials provided updates on the ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Barrel, which caused significant power outages across the region. Entergy Texas reported that the storm impacted 252,000 customers, primarily due to trees and vegetation falling on power lines. As of this week, crews have successfully restored power to 99% of affected customers in The Woodlands, with cleanup operations now underway.

Stuart Barrett, Vice President of Customer Service for Entergy Texas, expressed gratitude to the community for their patience during the restoration process, emphasizing the company's commitment to customer care. The meeting highlighted a stark contrast in responsiveness between Entergy and CenterPoint Energy, with board members acknowledging ongoing issues with CenterPoint's service reliability.

The board also discussed the establishment of two ad hoc committees: one focused on government relations and the other on emergency management. These committees aim to enhance understanding and preparedness for future natural disasters. Additionally, there was a call for action regarding the installation of natural gas hookups for three generators, which are deemed essential for cooling during emergencies.
