Community divided over local racing track proposal

In a recent public hearing, community members voiced their opinions regarding a proposed recreational facility on Vicksburg Road, which has sparked both support and opposition among local residents. Brian Holden, a representative of the property, emphasized the facility's origins as a family project aimed at providing recreational opportunities for children, particularly during the winter months when outdoor activities are limited.

Holden acknowledged the concerns of some newer residents who have moved into the area, stating that he understands their objections but believes the facility serves a vital role in the community. He highlighted the importance of offering children alternatives to screen time and noted that the facility has hosted fundraisers for local youth organizations.

Despite the ongoing opposition, Holden pointed out that many residents living near the track support its existence. He argued that the facility is situated a significant distance from the nearest home, approximately 1,400 feet, and that the voices of those in favor should be considered alongside the objections.

Walter Kwikluski, a nearby resident, also spoke in favor of the facility, stating that it does not disturb him despite his proximity to the track. The hearing revealed a divide in community sentiment, with ongoing discussions about the facility's impact on local quality of life and the need for recreational spaces for youth.
