Severe storms wreak havoc as extreme heat persists

During the recent government meeting, Mr. Anderson presented the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) report, highlighting several significant incidents affecting the county. Following the extreme heat wave that occurred after Father's Day, the EMA plans to reissue press releases regarding cooling centers to assist residents.

Additionally, the county experienced severe thunderstorms earlier in the week, with confirmed hail larger than quarter size reported in Crescent City. Wind gusts reached approximately 80 miles per hour between O'Barraga and Crescent City, resulting in tree damage in Clifton and La Cica. The National Weather Service has documented all reported damages.

In a positive development, the village of Donovan has joined the county's Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan, having submitted all necessary paperwork ahead of the upcoming August meeting. The finalization of this process is expected to take place by July of next year. The next planning meeting is scheduled for August 15th, where further discussions will continue.
