During a recent government meeting, significant concerns were raised regarding a property application submitted by Ally Prosper LLC, represented by Chuck Floyd. The application has drawn opposition from local residents, with five letters of public comment received, all expressing disapproval. The latest letter arrived just before the meeting, underscoring the urgency of community sentiment.
Floyd clarified that the property in question is owned by the same family that operates Lansdowne Resort in Loudoun County. He explained that the property has fallen into disrepair since the passing of the primary user, and the family is now seeking to repurpose it for public enjoyment rather than letting it deteriorate further. Floyd emphasized that the intention is not to create an extension of the resort but to find a viable use for the property.
However, local residents voiced strong objections. Dave Young, a neighbor, expressed concerns about privacy and security, highlighting that the property is now owned by a foreign entity registered in Hong Kong. He questioned the implications of having outside guests frequent the area, which has traditionally been a private residence.
Young also raised issues regarding the access road to the property, which runs through his neighbor's land. He described the narrow, tree-lined driveway as unsuitable for increased traffic, warning that any necessary widening could disrupt the natural landscape. Additionally, he criticized the condition of Creels Lane, noting that it is poorly maintained and could not support the anticipated increase in visitors.
The commission discussed the possibility of postponing action on the application while keeping the public hearing open, allowing for further community input and a site visit scheduled for next month. The outcome of this meeting will be pivotal in determining the future of the property and addressing the concerns of local residents.
